WHOSE MPs ARE THEY? At some colourful political press conference, Dr Thokozani Khupe, with a straight face, claimed temporary custodianship over a party that had garnered over 2 million votes, plus 100+ MPs. This was besides the fact that she herself had garnered 45000 votes plus 2 MPs, in the same polls. Zimbabweans immediately saw her as political comic relief and simply laughed her off. About 2 or so months later, the joke is no-longer funny. In fact, it has become dangerously worrisome. She has gone from just claiming to be what she isn’t, but has begun acting using powers she doesn’t have. How does someone with 45000 votes become leader of an institution which was a political opponent? I once told a friend that one day, someday, when future generation go through our history and realize what is actually happening now indeed happened, they will be convinced that 2020 was a long movie. This has been a strange year full of political abominations. The Supreme Court ruling! It

THE MDC-ALLIANCE MEMBERS HAVE TO FIND A WAY OF BEHAVING DIFFERENTLY.

In the next installment of the MDC Game of Thrones, MDC- ALLIANCE supporters expressed dissatisfaction over the presence of certain individuals at the funeral of Gogo Chamisa, mother to MDC-ALLAINCE President, Advocate Nelson Chamisa. The victims were MDC-T Acting President, Dr Khupe and NCA President, Professor Madhuku. Dr Khupe is the President of the MDC-T which has been weaponized to destroy the MDC-ALLAINCE, whereas Prof Madhuku has been instrumental in providing that armory. Over the past few years, ugly scenes have erupted at different MDC-ALLIANCE gatherings, primarily the burial of MDC leaders and officials. One would immediately remember that ugly scenes were experienced at Dr Morgan Tsvangirai’s funeral in Humanikwa, as well as Vimbai Tsvangirai’s funeral in Harare. The common denominator in all three instances is Dr Khupe, whose unhealthy relationship with MDC-ALLIANCE supporters in only getting nastier. I attempt to explore what is at play, and how things can and should

A GENERATION DARING TO DARE: TRIBUTE TO YOUTHS DEMANDING TO BE PART OF THE NATIONAL CONVERSATION

A few months ago, I was having one of my many conversation an Uncle in South Africa. Like many other in the Diaspora, at the backdrop of any socio-political development, he always calls to check up on life back home. There is always a need to balance what you consume on social media. As we engaged, he says to me “Nephew, I’m impressed by your level of political consciousness. During our college days, we only knew about Robert Mugabe and the Minister of Education. Everyone and everything else was irrelevant to us. Life was easier. You simply graduated, found a job, married and died”. What he was marvelling at, was my ability to explain political developments with clarity. I do not think of this as some special gift. It is our political circumstances that has conscientized my generation. And indeed, by each passing day, I’m convinced that a daring and determined generation is rising to claim a position in our national political discourse. But the critical question is, will the generati
